Welcome to us

Stockholm City is divided into eleven district administrations based on geographical areas. Each district consists of several neighborhoods. The district administrations are responsible for a certain part of the municipal service to those who live and work with the local business climate in the district. They are governed by a political committee that decides how money should be allocated to meet local needs. You will be employed by a district administration but have a mandate that extends across several.

Stockholm City's Business Community

Stockholm City's business community is diversified and consists of a variety of industries. Approximately 800,000 people work at the approximately 92,000 workplaces in the city. The workplaces are spread across the city's eleven district areas, each with its own character, business structure, and strengths. Stockholm is one of the world's most innovative, creative, and sustainable cities where the local and global are interconnected. The local business community creates value both in the places where they operate and for the city as a whole.

Your Role

Stockholm City is now establishing several new positions as business developers with geographical area responsibility. In this role, you will have the opportunity to help develop new working methods for an improved business climate in the city's various neighborhoods. As a business developer, you will have designated responsibility for a number of neighborhoods and work closely with the local business community to strengthen the city's business services. You will play a central role in the district's mission to build relationships with companies, identify needs, and serve as a coordinating link between the business community and the city's administrations.

You will be employed by a district administration but have a mandate that extends across several neighborhoods/areas. The work will be done in collaboration with Stockholm Business Region, which is the city's business and destination company that leads the city's operational business work, as well as with several other relevant administrations and companies.

In this role, you will be responsible for independently driving and coordinating processes, initiating and maintaining internal collaboration, establishing and developing dialogue with the local business community, and contributing to the development of business areas and local centers. You will also be responsible for identifying and analyzing important local development issues.

Main Responsibilities

• Proactively work to provide good business services and a favorable business climate
• Engage in active dialogue with local businesses, property owners, and other business actors to understand their needs and facilitate collaboration
• Build networks and create cooperation between the city's actors and local business groups
• Serve as a bridge to the city's various administrations.

The positions are divided according to the following areas/neighborhoods

• One business developer for Järva, Hässelby-Vällingby, and Bromma
• One business developer for Kungsholmen, Northern Inner City, and Södermalm
• One business developer for Enskede-Årsta-Vantör, Farsta, and Skarpnäck
• One business developer for Hägersten-Älvsjö and Skärholmen.

Your Competence and Experience

We are looking for someone who has:

• Experience working in or close to a politically governed organization
• Worked with business development in collaboration between the public sector and private businesses
• A good understanding of companies' needs and challenges, as well as how a municipality can create better conditions for entrepreneurship and provide good service.

It is an advantage if you have experience in:

• A similar role in another municipality/public organization where you have worked with business development, business services, or guidance, or equivalent in the private sector
• Academic education, for example, in social sciences, political science, communication, or other relevant education
• Local place and center development
• Entrepreneurship or have been active in the business community.
